Just as you take your first sip, you overhear a Danish brewer spinning a wild story about a fermentation experiment gone rogue - something about an unexpected Brett invasion and a pilsner that tasted like barnyard. Laughter erupts from a nearby table as someone accidentally sips a 15% pastry stout, expecting something much lighter. Welcome to Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen (MBCC), where every pour comes with a tale and drinking beer is a shared experience.
MBCC 2025 is just around the corner. This year, the attendees will have the chance to taste beers from over 100 different breweries, representing some of the most innovative and exciting players in the game. Whether you’re into hoppy IPAs, pastry stouts, lambics or crispy lagers, there will be something for every palate. Here’s what we’re looking forward to the most at MBCC 2025 in May!
While MBCC has always been a place to celebrate innovative craft beer, this year will bring a deeper appreciation for old-school brewing traditions. In recent years, Mikkeller has been focused on the resurgence of classic beer styles, particularly lagers.
Most recently showcased through ‘Year of the Lager’, our collaboration beer with Budvar, it reflects a broader trend in the craft beer world: a renewed love for clean, crisp, well-made lagers, with German lager being especially popular.
With that in mind, MBCC 2025 will feature old school lager breweries like Keesmann, Wagner, Rothaus and Schönram. These breweries have been perfecting their craft for decades - some even for centuries - and their presence at MBCC is a nod to the mastery of traditional brewing techniques which is a rarity in today’s fast-paced world. And no, these legendary brewers aren’t just showing up because of their heritage – they’re here because they still brew some of the best beer out there.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that MBCC is abandoning the selection of boundary-pushing beers in favor of nostalgia. MBCC will still feature plenty of pastry stouts, smoothie beers, hop bombs, and wild fermentations, ensuring the perfect balance between classic and contemporary.

You might have heard it. The infamous Guinness will be making an appearance at MBCC 2025!
Recently, Guinness has gone viral, especially among the younger crowd, because of the “Split the G” challenge taking over social media and making Guinness a staple at bars and beer festivals alike. With its newfound cult status, Guinness is bound to be among the crowd favorites.
But trends aside, let’s talk about why we think this legendary stout belongs in the lineup at MBCC: because it’s a damn good beer. Guinness, with its velvety mouthfeel and deep roasted character, has always been synonymous with stout and a reminder that stout isn’t just for a niche crowd. For many, Guinness is a gateway stout and its presence at MBCC might just nudge more people toward the rich and complex world of dark beers, encouraging them to break away from the lighter, often safer, options. And maybe, this is the year where more people fall in love with stouts.
For those who like to balance their craft beer with a bit of exercise, Mikkeller Running Club (MRC) is once again hosting a dedicated meeting area outside the festival.
Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just looking to shake off last night’s beers, the MRC area is the perfect place to mingle with like-minded people. It's a unique way to engage with the community, and who knows – you might even find your new favorite running buddy.
MBCC is a testament to everything beer stands for. It’s for the die-hard hopheads debating IBUs, the pilsner purists, and the stout lovers hunting the darkest pour. It’s for the ones who light up when they spot a rare Omnipollo IPA on draft or a 3 Sons barrel-aged gem ready to be poured.
This festival isn’t about passive sipping. It’s about leaning in as a brewer describes their latest experiment, nodding along as someone raves about a wild spontaneous fermentation or throwing your hands up in the air when you finally taste the beer you dreamt about.
As it’s short for, MBCC is a celebration in every sense. With over 100 carefully selected breweries serving top-quality brews, there’s no shortage of beer to enjoy. Food stands keep you fueled throughout the event, while unexpected acts add an extra layer of excitement.

For those less familiar, Mikkeller is the story of a young math and physics teacher with a passion for beer. In 2003, Mikkel Bjergsø started experimenting with hops, malt, and yeast in his small kitchen in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. Today, Mikkeller exports beer to 40 countries worldwide and operates 39 bars, restaurants, and bottle shops. Known for its creativity and continuous evolution, Mikkeller has gained international recognition for both innovation and quality.
